Allana Maiden - Communications & Brand Specialist

Allana is the “RAL Social Media Gal,” which is the easiest way to explain what she does, even if it barely scratches the surface. She manages RAL’s social media, website, newsletter, and print communications, sharing the stories of the pets (and people) that make this work matter.

She studied public relations, journalism, and communications, but her path into animal welfare didn’t follow a straight line. In 2012, she joined the Richmond SPCA, starting in admissions before going on to lead the foster program for eight years. That experience shaped how she approaches her work today, with a strong understanding of both the animals in care and the people who show up for them. She joined RAL in 2022, bringing that background into a role focused on storytelling, outreach, and connecting those stories with the people who need to hear them.

Originally from a small Appalachian town, she’s called Richmond home for over a decade. Off the clock, she’s hiking, reading in a hammock, going to concerts, or turning pet photos into Renaissance portraits with the power of Photoshop. She shares her home with two dogs, Ruby and Willie, and her husband Adam, who has made peace with being third in that sentence.
