Courtesy Foster Listings

Our free courtesy foster listing service is available for pet guardians who are temporarily unable to care for their pets but who want to manage their pets’ placements into temporary foster homes without entering a shelter. These pets will go back home to their own family when they are able to care for them again.

  • The pets listed below are being listed by members of our community and are not at RAL’s shelter.

All information contained in these courtesy listings has been provided by their current guardians. RAL does not verify the accuracy of the information provided. It is the responsibility of the individuals interested in providing a new home to these pets to obtain and verify information about the pets’ history.

  • RAL staff members review each courtesy listing before it goes live, but we do not meet the pets or their guardians and cannot verify the accuracy of each listing. Please use caution when interacting with individuals through this page.

    • Never send money or a deposit for a pet you haven’t met in person.

    • Arrange to meet in a safe, public location.

    • Use tools like Google reverse image search to check for stock or reused photos.

    • Ask for veterinary records and review the pet’s medical history. Make sure the name on the records matches the person you're speaking with.

If you come across a listing that seems suspicious, please email us so we can take a closer look.

  • Before you decide, take a moment to think about the reason. Are you struggling to afford pet food? Facing behavior challenges? Need help with veterinary care? Visit the Pet Resources tab in our main menu above—support may be available to help you keep your pet.

If you’ve determined that rehoming is the best option, our Rehoming Blog offers helpful tips and guidelines to create a thoughtful and effective listing.
