RAL Supports Vick's Sentence
December 10, 2007

The Richmond Animal League supports the federal sentence of 23 months handed down to Michael Vick for his role in the dog fighting case.

As tragic as dog fighting was for those dogs that lost their lives at Vicks’ Bad Newz Kennels, Richmond Animal League is very pleased that this case has brought the national spotlight to this vicious and cruel blood sport. We’re confident that local law enforcement will use the Vick case to actively pursue others involved in this sadistic activity. RAL believes this groundbreaking case should prompt the Virginia State Legislature to increase the penalties for those involved in dog fighting and we urge the citizens of Virginia to contact their representatives to demand changes.

Four of the dogs from the Vick case will be placed with the Richmond Animal League. All of the dogs will be transferred directly to foster homes and will not be housed at RAL’s facility.

If you have you have any questions, please contact Susan Kelly, Director of Development, at susan@ral.org or 804.379.0046 ext. 12.
