Meet the Saturday Crew
September 15, 2007
Originally from Long Island, New York, Ray, Diane, Hannah and Ian are integral to RAL Saturday night. There has been many a night when it was just the four of them.
Diane studies full time as a student at Mary Baldwin, works as an instructional assistant for Chesterfield County, and consults for Southern Living Magazine as a gardening expert. Besides taking care of those things, her family, and her own yellow lab, not to mention RAL, she’s not busy at all. Sharon Cornett, now a director of RAL, recruited Diane for crew leader and gave special permission for daughter Hannah, only 9 at the time, to accompany mom. The rest of the family followed.
Ian does dogs with mom and dad before any Saturday night fun with fellow Math/Science High School seniors is possible.
Ray likes to catch fish and paints for his real job .
Another veteran is Alison Fechino, a Maggie Walker Governor’s school senior. Allison’s fall task is applying to William and Mary, VA Tech, and UVA, hopefully headed for vet school. She wandered in to see some fuzzy puppies 3 years ago and now walks dogs and scoops poop once a week.
Katy Leahy, with us for 6 months, leaps into freshman year at Appomattox Regional Governor’s school next week.
Amy Johnson is a James River senior.
Cat people include Elizabeth Davidson and Cary Alspaugh.
The new guys on the block are father Mike and 13 year old son Thomas Cerreto. Alex (so new, first night in fact, that we missed his last name) is at Midlothian High in the IB program.
