No-Kill Mission Restated
August 20, 2007

The first act of our new Board of Directors was to restate and affirm our no-kill mission.

“Only animals that are suffering from a non-survivable condition or those which exhibit irremediable behavior will be humanely euthanized. Decision-making for euthanasia will be made by consultation and consensus among the kennel manager, a qualified animal behaviorist or trainer and a veterinarian. In the event of a medical emergency, with time of the essence to relieve an animal’s suffering, euthanasia decisions can be made by the kennel manager and the attending veterinarian. RAL will make every reasonable effort to place dogs and cats deemed unadoptable in foster care or in long-term sanctuary care. No unadoptable animals will be turned over to a kill facility, which includes local animal control facilities.”

Approved by the RAL Board of Directors August 20, 2007
