RAL Announces the 2009 Woofstock Festival
February 3, 2009
The Richmond Animal League (RAL) will present the 2009 Woofstock Festival, an all-day, family-friendly dog festival with live music, adoptions, games, food and drink on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 10:00am – 4:00pm. This year’s event will take place on historic Monument Avenue between Allen Avenue & Lombardy Street. There is a $5.00 suggested donation for admission. All donations will go to benefit the mission of RAL – Saving lives: providing hope, help and homes for animals in need. RAL hopes to raise over $70,000 from this event.
The festival will kick off with the one mile Strut Your Mutt fundraising dog walk at 9:30am. Community members and local businesses will form Dog Packs to collect donations. Gates will open at 10:00am for the festival. There will be live music all day and plenty of fun for the dogs, including games, agility courses, photos and contests. The whole family will also be able to enjoy the kids games, vendor area, food and drink and our dog adoption area, which will include many animal rescue groups from across the metro Richmond area. Woofstock radio sponsor, Mix 103.7, will be broadcasting live. Other sponsors include NBC12 and PUNCH.
All dogs must be current on vaccines and rabies shots. Proof of a rabies shot must be presented for each dog in the form of a tag or vet paperwork. Puppy owners must bring along proof of all shots. All dogs must be leashed at all times on a leash no longer than 6ft. RAL reserves the right to refuse admission to any owner and their dog.
The Richmond Animal League is the area’s oldest non-profit “no-kill” organization committed to reducing the homeless pet population in the Richmond area. RAL provides temporary housing, medical treatment, sterilization, and quality care to over 800 companion animals each year until they are adopted into permanent and loving homes.
