Volunteer Mark Bonner and The CarMax Foundation
January 6, 2009

Mark Bonner, a Construction Project Manager at the Home Office, is new to Richmond and immediately did his research on the local charities. “One of my goals was to get involved in the community,” he said. “I asked people about local organizations and the Richmond Animal League came up repeatedly. When I toured their facility, I was impressed with the care and dedication the volunteers bestowed on the animals.”
The Richmond Animal League (RAL) is the Richmond-area’s oldest non-profit “no-kill” organization committed to reducing the homeless pet population. The Richmond Animal League has provided shelter and love to hundreds of companion animals each year until they can be adopted into permanent and loving homes. The organization’s mission is “Saving lives – providing hope, help and homes for animals in need.”
Mark has been volunteering with RAL for just under a year and his volunteer hours are matched through The CarMax Foundation’s Matching Gifts Program. “I am proud to tell people that I work for a company that implements a Matching Gifts Program. Just a few hours of volunteering a month helps Richmond Animal League in a financial way tremendously,” he said.
In addition to RAL, Mark has proudly donated his time to Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity and also the CarMax Summer Basketball League.
