Thank you to everyone who came out to our 2nd Annual Woofstock Festival on Saturday, May 30th. It was a huge success! Over 2,000 people lined the streets of historic Monument Avenue to support the rescue and adoption efforts of Richmond Animal League.

A really nice reporter, Joe Macenka from the Richmond Times Dispatch, came to our house and talked to Mom and me for a recent article in the paper, and a lot of people are asking about me at RAL. So now seems like a good time to tell you what I’ve been up to.

Thanks to a very generous donation from C. Leland Bassett, long time donor, RAL has revamped the Adult Cat Room. Local interior design company, Breathe Easy Décor, assisted in the remodel. Ramps and cat trees were installed, flooring was laid, and a flat screen television was mounted. The cats are greatly enjoying their new living quarters.

The Richmond Animal League (RAL) will present the 2009 Woofstock Festival, an all-day, family-friendly dog festival with live music, adoptions, games, food and drink on Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 10:00am – 4:00pm. This year’s event will take place on historic Monument Avenue between Allen Avenue & Lombardy Street.

The Richmond Animal League (RAL) is proud to announce that 2008 was a record-breaking year for rescue and adoptions of homeless animals at their Chesterfield shelter. Thanks to the financial support of the public and the hard work of the RAL staff and volunteers, 792 homeless animals were rescued and brought to RAL to await their forever homes. more
Mark Bonner, a Construction Project Manager at the Home Office, is new to Richmond and immediately did his research on the local charities. “One of my goals was to get involved in the community,” he said. “I asked people about local organizations and the Richmond Animal League came up repeatedly.
