Operation Silent Night
December 23, 2011
It's going to be a silent night at Richmond Animal League

Help us make Richmond Animal League the place
"where every pet has a home for the holidays."
We're committed to finding a home for every animal in our care by 8pm on December 23rd. It's a big undertaking, we know, but we believe that all of our pets deserve to celebrate the holidays in a home.
Here's how you can help:
1. ADOPT (and encourage others to do so)
Our shelter is full of amazing animals, from sweet Tulip to boisterous Meatball, couch potato Patty to mischievous Wink. If you are considering adding a pet to your family, consider adoption! Our adoption counselors are available to help you through the adoption process and answer any questions you may have before adopting a new pet. All of our pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before going to their new homes. Check out our website, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for special holiday deals and featured pets!
For more information on adoption, email adopt@ral.org or call 804.379.0046 x100
2. FOSTER
Foster homes are an important piece of the puzzle that has helped RAL remain a no-kill shelter - plainly put, fostering saves lives. Aside from creating space for more animals, foster homes give our pets a much needed break from what can be a very stressful kennel environment. It is often in foster homes that we are allowed a glimpse of a dog or cat's true personality, helping us to find a home in which they will best fit. If you have the time and the space, please consider fostering one of our amazing animals. RAL provides the food, litter, medicines, and veterinary care - you provide the love.
For more information about fostering, email pam@ral.org or call 804.379.0046 x111
3. VOLUNTEER
We rely on our dedicated volunteers to keep the animals in our care healthy and happy - with fresh litter pans, clean kennels, baths, daily walks, belly rubs and back scratches. Our volunteers do everything from handling dogs at adoption events to helping administer medications to sick kittens. Recruit your classmates, coworkers, neighbors or friends and pledge a few hours to helping care for the needy pets of RAL.
For more information on volunteer opportunities, please email cynthia@ral.org or call 804.379.0046 x113
4. SPREAD THE WORD
The more people hear our message, the better. While not everyone can adopt or foster a pet, sharing information about our pets is an enormous help! Share our Operation Silent Night initiative on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, the library and your office (download a printable pdf flyer). You can even spread the word without saying a thing by purchasing an Operation Silent Night t-shirt.The more people know about our mission, the better chance our animals have of making it home for the holidays!
Operation Silent Night t-shirts (long sleeve! gray!) are available for purchase for $20 at the shelter (11401 International Drive, Richmond VA, 23236)
5. DONATE
Help offset the cost of reduced adoption fees by donating to the Richmond Animal League, Richmond's oldest no-kill non-profit animal shelter. Your contribution, combined with others, helps us continue our mission to provide hope, help, and homes for animals in need.
