The Richmond Animal League is very fortunate to have a roster of over 100 dedicated, animal loving volunteers, but we can always use more. We have volunteers who tend to our animals; serve as adoption counselors; participate in fundraising activities and special events as well as serve on various committees.

The Richmond Animal League is open 365 days a year with volunteers handling a wide variety of tasks at different times of the day. Morning animal caregivers start at 8:30 and stay until around 11:30. These enthusiastic volunteers walk dogs, clean dog and cat cages, feed the animals and spend time with our homeless dogs and cats. Afternoons at the Richmond Animal League are busy with volunteers acting as adoption counselors and spending time socializing our dogs and cats. We also have evening shifts with volunteers arriving at 6:00 pm and leaving at 8:00 pm. They exercise the dogs, clean cages and offer up lots of love and attention for the animals in our care.

If you love animals, have some free time and would like to join our team of dedicated volunteers, you can download an Adult Volunteer Application (18 years or older) or Student Volunteer Application on the right. Fill it out and mail it to the Richmond Animal League. Once your application is received we’ll contact you to set up a volunteer interview.

Woofstock Planning Committee Member
We are searching for volunteers interested in helping plan this event. Duties would include helping secure sponsorships from local businesses, solicit vendors to participate in the expo, publicize Woofstock and recruit volunteers for the day of the event. more

Paws For Pets – Volunteers Needed
RAL is taking part in the CBS 6 Paws For Pets on air promotion – a weekly taping of local adoptable cats and dogs from various animal rescue groups. Tapings are on Thursday mornings at 10:00am at their studio on Broad Street by the Science Museum. We are looking for volunteers to take either a cat or dog on Thursdays to the station. YOU WILL NOT BE ON CAMERA. more

Petsmart Sunday Adoption Event
Help Needed
Would you like to spend a couple of hours with our dogs? Adoption events are a great time to help socialize the dogs and give them that extra special attention and love. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent.
