Best In Show is the Richmond Animal League’s (RAL) campaign to raise money for the homeless animals in its care. All candidates vying for the title of Best In Show agree to utilize their leadership abilities to conduct their own fundraising campaigns for RAL. Every dollar counts as one vote. The candidate with the most votes is crowned Best In Show.
RAL is Richmond’s oldest non-profit, no-kill humane society providing over 600 homeless animals each year with temporary housing, medical treatment, sterilization, and quality care until they are adopted to permanent, loving homes. Our operations are solely funded by the generosity of the public through donations and fundraisers.
Candidates have a personal connection to RAL and/or animal rescue or a willingness to learn about it. They are self-motivators, enthusiastic, well-networked and success driven. They have an interest in increasing public awareness of homeless animals and have a track record of success in business and/or community endeavors. Each candidate is asked to raise a minimum of $3,000.
Candidates utilize online fundraising pages, a letter writing campaign, and many decide to hold fundraisers. Each will also have the opportunity to sell sponsorships, program ads, Grand Finale tickets, and provide ten silent auction items for the Grand Finale – the proceeds of which are credited to the candidate’s total. Each candidate will receive personal assistance from RAL to succeed in their endeavors.
The 2008 Best In Show campaign will kickoff the second week of September. The eight week fundraising campaign will conclude on November 8th with the Grand Finale at Toad’s Place in downtown Richmond.
