Beautiful 5-year-old Black Lab, she was found in Montpelier with no tags or ID wandering the side of the road and was very skinny. Our kids have named her Leia (we do not know her real name) and since we found her, she is putting the weight back on and is in very good health.
Leia currently is living in a home with 2 children (ages 10 and 7) and 2 other dogs (12 year old Golden Retriever and 4 year old Lab Mix). She is great around both kids and the dogs. She interacts wonderfully with no behavior issues. She has been spayed and is housebroken. She walks on a leash with no problems and loves to get out for walks. Leia also enjoys fetching a ball and would probably bring a ball back to you all day long.
Leia was taken to our vet who checked her over and made her current on all her shots. While in our care, she has had 4 seizures which typically last about 3 minutes. Usually during the seizure, we sit with her just to make sure she does not hurt herself by hitting anything around her. Our vet conducted blood tests on her and placed her on Phenobarbital, which is to help eliminate the seizures. The medication is not expensive ($10.00/month) but it would be something that she would need to be given for the rest of her life. Leia has been on the medicine for 2 weeks now and has had no seizures to date.
Leia is a wonderful dog with the best personality and she would make an excellent companion or family dog.
