Adoption Info - Adopting from Richmond Animal League

Richmond animal league adopts out over 500 animals each year, including dogs and cats across the metro Richmond area. Our commitment to no-kill means we keep an animal as long as it takes to find a home, but we need your help to provide those forever homes so that we may reach out to the next animal in need.

Adoption Fee
RAL charges an adoption fee to help defray the costs incurred for medical and daily care. Even though area veterinarians generously discount their services, the adoption fee falls short of what is needed to provide routine medical care, specialized medical care, food and shelter. The difference is made up through donations and fundraising please donate!

RAL Adoption Application
You will be asked to fill out an application. Once the application has been processed and approved, your "new best friend" can go home with you. (The application process usually takes 2 - 3 days, but can vary depending on how quickly we can contact everyone necessary). download application

Adoption fee includes:

vaccinations appropriate for age
heart worm test (adults only)
worming
spay/neuter
microchip
1 month heart worm preventative (all dogs/puppies are on heart worm preventative while at our shelter)
